Stronger and safer communities

The 2025-26 Budget continues our record of strong investment in community services that support the most vulnerable and keep our community safe.

Community services

  • $250 million boost to frontline child protection and out of home care services to support young people in care.
  • $33 million to curb the scourge of FDV including expanding Safe at Home, bringing total investment to $541 million over the past five years.
  • $10 million to expand homelessness outreach services.
  • $10 million to support PCYCs and expand early intervention and diversion programs for young people.
  • $30 million in support for organisations providing care to animals and pets, including $23 million for the RSPCA.

Community safety

We are investing almost $700 million in police and justice this Budget to keep the WA community safe, including:

  • $43 million to support our nation leading firearm reforms that will take guns off the streets.
  • $22 million to catch and deter hoons on our roads.
  • $19 million to enhance electronic monitoring of offenders.
  • $16 million for the new model of care for young people in detention, and staffing at the new Crisis Care Unit at Banksia Hill Detention Centre.
  • $13 million for a satellite Children's Court in Armadale, ensuring swifter outcomes for victims.

Emergency services

Over $127 million of additional investment to bolster our fire and emergency response capability. This includes:

  • $23 million for a new Yanchep Career Fire station.
  • $8 million to replace Bullsbrook Volunteer Fire station.
  • $15 million towards the new Wanneroo Emergency Management Complex.
  • $10 million towards the Fitzroy Crossing Evacuation Centre and Multipurpose Complex.
  • $23 million to modernise the Emergency Services Radio Network.
