The 2025-26 Budget delivers $1.4 billion in additional housing initiatives focused on boosting supply around the State, increasing total additional investment to $5.8 billion since 2021-22.
These investments are working with the housing market returning to a more balanced position.
Delivering more houses
- $101 million Housing Enabling Infrastructure Fund investment in power and water infrastructure to unlock land for 33,000 future homes. This builds on a recent $105 million investment to unlock up to 28,000 new homes.
- $119 million to reduce transfer duty for first home buyers on both established homes and land purchases for new homes.
- $50 million Housing Innovation Fund to support initiatives and technologies to boost productivity along the housing supply chain.
Affordable housing
- $246 million to deliver an additional 548 social and affordable homes.
- $210 million for 1,000 shared equity loans in new apartment and townhouse developments.
- $75 million for no and low interest loans to support affordable build to rent developments get off the ground sooner.
- $6 million for the Community Housing Capability Program.
Construction workforce
- $25 million to increase the number of subsidised tradie apprentices to 1,000 through the GTO wage subsidy.
- $22 million to increase the number of fee-free housing and construction TAFE courses.
- $12 million to extend the Construction Visa Subsidy Program and Build a Life in WA Program with an additional 1,100 places.
- $600,000 to assist more tradies to become registered builders and establish successful businesses.
Regional housing
- $104 million to double the GROH construction program with over 100 new builds in the regions.
- $25 million for the Regional Housing Support Fund to boost the viability of regional housing projects.
- $43 million for the Mulataga residential development in Karratha, part-funded by the Commonwealth.
- $3 million expansion of the Housing First Support Service to Bunbury and surrounds.
- $20 million to construct up to 40 units for seniors in Kalgoorlie and $5 million to support 14 key workers homes in Kununurra.
