Connecting our State

This Budget includes $10.7 billion of investment in transport infrastructure over the next four years to connect communities, reduce congestion, and create a more accessible State.

Road upgrades

  • $700 million to widen and upgrade the Kwinana Freeway.
  • $450 million for the Reid Highway-Erindale Road Grade Separation.
  • $36 million for upgrades to Wanneroo Road corridor.

Regional transport

  • $250 million Regional Road Safety Program for safety upgrades on local government roads.
  • $25 million to improve the South Coast Highway.
  • $25 million for the Northam Pithara Road realignment and replacement of ageing bridges.
  • $26 million to increase the Regional Pensioner Travel Card to $775.
  • $18 million to provide half price Transwa fares from 1 January 2026.

Investing in public transport

  • $107 million to expand our ferry system with METRONET on Swan.
  • A further $103 million for the transition to a fully electric bus fleet.
  • $18 million to commence new SurfCAT bus service.
  • $152 million to deliver the Suburban Flat Fare.
  • $10 million to keep public transport free for students in 2026.

METRONET

METRONET has transformed our city and suburbs, making travel more affordable and accessible.

We have rolled out 61.5 kilometres of new track and 20 new stations forever changing the face of WA, including:

  • Yanchep Rail Extension
  • Morley-Ellenbrook Line
  • Thornlie-Cockburn Link
  • New stations on the upgraded Armadale Line at Carlisle, Oats Street, Queens Park, Cannington and Beckenham.

The positive impact of METRONET continues with the Byford Rail Extension, the METRONET Long Park and the new Midland Station due to be completed in 2025-26.
