Key Budget initiatives
The 2026-27 State Budget delivers real cost of living relief for Western Australians, and continues to deliver on our priorities of housing, health, and jobs.
This Budget responsibly manages the State's finances, keeping WA's economy the strongest in the nation, and delivering for all Western Australians across our suburbs and regions.
Key initiatives include:
- Over $1 billion in real cost of living support for WA families, including a third round of the WA Student Assistance Payment, the new $100 Fuel Support Payment, free public transport initiatives, capping airfares for regional residents, and boosting targeted support for those who need it most.
- Our $4.7 billion additional investment in housing will unlock and deliver more land supply, build thousands of homes for Western Australians, and help first homebuyers get into the market. We're also being ambitious, investing in new initiatives such as our $250 million Pre-Sale Guarantee, Housing and Infrastructure Advanced Manufacturing Facilities, delivering our METRONET station precincts vision, and partnering with the Commonwealth to deliver homes targeting first home buyers.
- $9.1 billion to boost health and mental health, including a record
$6.5 billion for frontline hospital services, more doctors and nurses,
and initiatives to improve access to health services.
Our $1.5 billion investment in health infrastructure and the Building Hospitals Fund will deliver new hospital capacity across our suburbs and regions, contributing to 900 additional hospital beds coming online. - Investing in quality jobs and business opportunities for Western Australians. Underpinned by our Government's strong budget management since 2017, this Budget continues to invest in the energy transition, local manufacturing, developing our workforce with Fee-Free TAFE, and supporting tourism and creative industries to diversify our economy so it remains the strongest in the nation.
